The right to read launch
SLIGO Library has launched a ‘Right To Read’ programme which aims to get more children reading at local level.
The initiative kicked off last Monday when a group of children from Cranmore were invited to the library to enjoy some storytelling and to get their very first library membership card. The right to read campaign will support literacy and reading development.” Librarian Pauline Brennan said: “This is a really exciting programme. We have a wide range of books suitable for young babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and children of a school going age, and we want to encourage parents to join their children in the library from a young age so that they can enjoy books and experience the wonderful world of pictures and illustrations.”
