No insurance in Connaughto­n Road car-park

TWO men were before the court for not having insurance on a car they were in the process of removing a catalytic converter from. Terence McGinley and Hugh McGinley, of Connaghton Road car-park, Sligo were both fined for not having insurance on April 12 th last. Mr Patrick O’Sullivan, BL, defending told the court the family were in the process of turning over one of the cars they were working on for taking out the catalytic converter when gardaí arrived and asked about insurance. He said Terence McGinley did have comprehens­ive van insurance but it didn’t cover the vehicle in the process of scrapping. “It was within the confines of the car-park, which has been home to Mr McGinley for 34 years, it wasn’t being driven on a highway,” he said. Terence McGinley, who had no previous conviction­s was fined €200 for no insurance. Hugh McGinley, who had no previous conviction­s and does not have a driving license, was fined €200 for no insurance.
