ENTERPRISE TOWN

Tubbercurry was first runner-up prize in the recent bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Awards, announced last week at a Gala Dinner in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Competing in the category of town sizes up to 3,000 population, Tubbercurry fought off opposition from towns all over Ireland, and were only beaten in the proverbial ‘photo finish’ by Cootehill from Co. Cavan.

The competition was open to towns all over Ireland and involved the competing towns making detailed presentations to a panel of judges. The businesses and entrepreneurs of Tubbercurry embraced the whole concept magnificently, and made top quality presentations from a variety of entrepreneurs ranging in age from those in their 70’s to teenagers.

The presentation by Tubbercurry lasted four hours and involved visiting factories, workshops and smaller businesses throughout the community.

Led by Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce and Community Association, and headed up by Louise Kilbane and Geraldine Brennan, the prize won is €2,000 which will be used within the community to further enhance local amenities and facilities. Well done to all concerned.
