All the hard work pays off!
SLIGO Grammar School took time to honour students at its annual Prize Day Celebrations recently.
Prize day is an important part of the school year as it puts the students and their many achievements at the centre of school life.
Prizes were distributed to students from all years, across all subjects. The school awards prizes for sporting and extra curricular achievements as well as for academic excellence.
The class who sat the Leaving Cert exam in 2017 were also honoured. Andrew Wood-Martin received the Headmaster’s Prize for outstanding achievement in the Leaving Certificate, Jude Perry was awarded the Farra Cup for the student who contributed most to school life and Kuba Wojtkowicz and Sarah White shared the Browne Trophy for dedication to sport.
The guest speaker this year was Diarmuid De Paor, ASTI Assistant General Secretary, who spoke to the students about how the working world has changed and how education is key to future success.
