Had five convictions for no insurance
A 34-year-old father of seven was fined €300 for no insurance on March 1st 2017 at the offices of Sligo County Council. Thomas Gray, of Sea View Park, Strandhill Road, was also disqualified from driving for three years. He was fined a further €100 for no NCT and also €100 for not tax on the same date. Inspector Donal Sweeney said he had five previous convictions for no insurance, the most recent of which occurred in 2006. Mr Gray told Judge Kevin Kilrane he was a totally different man now and had started his own painting and decorating business. “I’ve totally turned my life around,” he said. Judge Kilrane added: “Not totally as you are up again for no insurance.” He said on the day he was stopped he was taking a car to be scrapped.
Defending solicitor Ms Laura Spellman explained that he did currently have insurance on a car. The judge fined him €300 for no insurance and a further €100 for no NCT and €100 for no tax.
