Sligo Walks photo competition
THIS week we have a great new competition for all of you who enjoy the Great Outdoors. In conjunction with main sponsors, the Radisson Blu Hotel here in Sligo, we offer 2 lucky winners a chance to spend some time here in Sligo and to enjoy the wonderful walks on our doorstep.
The lucky winners will win a 2 night midweek stay at the Radisson, which can be availed of in the new year.
The winners will get to stay at one of Sligo’s best hotels located in Ballincar and just a stone’s throw away from some of the most scenic walks in Sligo, including Rosses Point, the Ben Bulben Forest Loop and Knocknarea, to name just three. Every day we will invite the winners to enjoy some of these walks and we’ ll provide you with some extra treats along the way!
In addition, Paula and the team at the Radisson have kindly offered the winners some spa treatments to ease those aching legs after a day’s trek.
On the day of your arrival – provided you can make it to Sligo in the morning, you will get a chance to have lunch at the Drafthouse in Strandhill, before taking a walk up Knocknarea – a guide will be provided if you want one – before returning to the Radisson for spa treatments, a relax in the leisure centre, and then dinner.
The following day, after breakfast, our winners will head to the Devil’s Chimney and/or Ben Bulben Forest Walk, where they can enjoy the spectacular north Sligo scenery, before heading to Atlantic Sheepdogs in Grange, followed by some time seaweed foraging at Streedagh, courtesy of Irish Seaweed Kitchen, and taking in some of the De Cuéllar Trail.
After that packed afternoon, dinner awaits you at Lang’s Bar & Restaurant in Grange. To enter the competition, simply head to SligoWalks.ie or follow our social media pages.
The competition will run until Friday December 8th with the winners being announced the following week.
A great early Christmas present for someone – enter early and often as they say! We’d like to congratulate Martin Dorey who won our recent photo competition, which was sponsored by Sligo’s best outdoor pursuits shop Call of the Wild. Martin’s photo was among the many spectacular entries we received depicting your favourite Sligo Walk.
Martin’s photo is of his daughter Maggie on Knocknarea, with spectacular views across to Ben Bulben – we hope you like it. Thanks to everyone who en- tered the competition and also to Call of the Wild for sponsoring the prize.
We will post the best photos we received – there were well over a hundred – in the coming weeks on our Facebook page.
