Bring your own bag this festive season

-

THE festive season is just around the corner as shops are gearing up for their busiest time of year.

Sligo Tidy Towns has launched a ‘Bring your own Bag’ initiative to coincide with the Christmas spending sprees.

While paper bags may seem like the eco-friendly option, it takes nearly double the resources to create a paper bag than one made out of plastic. That’s why reusable products are better than paper or plastic bags.

With this in mind, Sligo Tidy Towns launched ‘#B.Y.O. Bag – Christmas Shopping Campaign’ to run from 17 th November to 24 th December. Spokesman Philip O’Brien said: “Sligo Tidy Towns is delighted to come up with this environmentally friendly initiative.

“Just as we do for our grocery shopping, we are asking the shoppers of Sligo to Bring Your Own reusable bags when hitting the shops for your Christmas pressies.”

So make this a green Christmas and remember to bring your own bag.

Philip added: “Be sure to tag your pictures and selfies on social media showing your support for this worthy campaign at #B.Y.O. Bag Sligo, #Sligo Tidy Towns, #Sligo’s Green Christmas
