Family carers are invited to attend a Dementia Informatio­n evening in the Clay ton Hotel, Sligo on Thursday, 30th November at 8pm.

Sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care, and with contributo­rs from The Alzheimer Societ y of Ire - l and and Callan Tansey Solicitors, the purpose of the informatio­n evening is to educate and support family carers in t aking care of loved ones living with Alzheimer’s disease or other t ypes of dementia.

Attendees will receive informatio­n and have discussion with dementia care specialist s who will help them understand dementia, how to li ve well with dementia, t ake necessar y legal and f inancial steps, how to care with confidence and how to safeguard wellbeing and support.

Oliver McBride, Owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Sligo said: “Many people we care for in the community are li ving with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia and as such we have a vested interest in supporting not only people li ving with dementia, but al so family carers and other people af fected by dementia.”

He continued: “Many people often struggle to understand the full impact of dementia and it’s easy to become over whelmed.

“We want to support f amilies in the local community to provide the best care they can and meet people in the local community in a similar situation.

“The informatio­n evening al so present s an opportunit y for families to build a support net work and be social during which of ten can be an isolating time.”
