THIS Friday, December 1st Quayside Shopping center will be welcoming a very special guest with the arrival of Santa Claus.

Santa will be touring the streets of Sligo in a horse drawn carraige with garda escort before arriving at Quayside at 3pm where he will be greeted by the boys and girls of the Mercy primary Choir.

Everyone is welcome to come along and meet Santa as he opens his garden and grotto which has been specially designed by Feehilys florists.

“We are really excited. We have been preparing for this since the summer months and have created a really special winter wonderland and grotto for Santa”, said Christine Dolan Center Manager.

The two story winter wonderland commences with an arch way at ground level bringing people through a magical tunnel to Santa’s market which sees a numberr of local seasonal stalls set up for the month.

From there you can overlook Santa’s garden and his grotto which have been expertly prepared with an amazing attention to detail from the mossy roof of the snow covered cabin to the pine cones hanging from the trees. “We have been working on preparing the grotto for a while now and there has been lots of excitement as people have seen what we are doing,” said Michael Feehily who created the grotto.

The festivities will commence at Quayside this Friday December 1st at 3pm for the big arrival with the grotto running until 8pm on Friday. The grotto will remain open from 12 noon to 6pm on the following dates throughout the month of December.
