SUICIDE PREVENTION

Vincent McGowan Foundation QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention will be held in Easkey Community Centre on Thursday, November 30, from seven – 10 p.m. Attendees will receive their ‘Gatekeeper Cert’ and a copy of the QPR Resource Booklet. LEAVING CERT AWARD

Congratula­tions to Stephen Gaughan a past student of Coláiste Iascaigh on achieving the best overall result in Leaving Cert Applied Engineerin­g 2017 where Stephen got the highest result in the country. His achievemen­t was commended at the Engineerin­g Technology Teachers Associatio­n conference held in Letterkenn­y Institute of Technology where he received a gold medal and a certificat­e. He is son of Ann Gaughan, Kilglass.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL AGM

Eoghan Rua Ladies’ Football club will hold their annual general meeting on Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m. in the Diamond Coast Hotel. It is important that parents and players attend in order to discuss the future of the club.

LIP SYNC LIVE

The Diamond Coast Hotel was packed to capacity on Saturday night last for the Easkey GAA Lip Sync Live. Fifteen acts took to the stage and proved to be highly entertaini­ng. Overall winners were ‘The Healthy Ladies’ and the judge’s choice was ‘The A Team’. The main sponsors were Office Pro, Ballina and Blair Feeney, Dromore West. Well done to the acts, the organisers and supporters.

YOUNG AT HEART

West Sligo Young at Heart club will hold a Tea Dance in the Ocean Sands Hotel on Thursday, December 7, from to 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Music by Gary O’Reilly. Admission €8 to include soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee.

Kilglass/Culleens community alert will hold their next meeting in Sheridan’s Bar on Wednesday, December 6, at 9 p.m.

MARGARET KILCULLEN R.I.P.

The death has taken place of Margaret Kilcullen née Knox, Ballymeene­y. Her funeral Mass took place in St James Church, Easkey and burial took place in Roslea Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to her family and relatives.

BOSTON TEA PARTY

Coláiste Iascaigh will hold a Boston Tea Party in the Ocean Sands Hotel on January 26. All proceeds going directly to future developmen­t works. An auction is also planned on the night, and are currently accepting any items that may attract interest. On Saturday, December 2, at 2 p.m. Santa will visit the Family Resource Centre in Enniscrone with plenty of fun and entertainm­ent for young and old so come along and join in the free festivitie­s.

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on November 17. Numbers drawn were 19, 20, 21 and 26. €25 winners were Liam Kilgannon, Roseann McGowan, Anthony Walsh, Caoimhe O’Brien and Caroline Colleary. Promoter’s prize: Joe Cosgrove. Next jackpot €2,100 and the draw will take place at the bingo in the community centre at 8.30 on Friday night.
