It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee

-

LOCAL cafe owners are offering job hunters a chance to be a barista thanks to a new LEADER sponsored programme.

So if you think it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee, now is your chance to get behind the daily grind! Coffee experts Des Faul from Cafe Fleur, Tony Conway from Hearts Desire and Ali O’Hara from Kate’s Kitchen are all on board to teach the skills of how to make that perfect cuppa.

Each morning session explains a history of coffee, the operation and maintenance of the equipment, the importance of customer service and most importantly the artistry that goes into serving up the perfect Americano. Everyone who takes part gets the opportunity to try their hand under the watchful eye of the master barista.

Des Faul says: “There is a need for trained baristas who are able to provide both a high standard product and service. As cafe owners we are delighted to support this initiative – it is of great benefit to us to know that job applicants are trained up and understand the basics of working in a coffee shop.”
