This is par t of a national allocation of € 812,000 by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD, which will benefit almost 120 agricultural shows throughout the countr y in 2018.

“Agricultural shows are hugely important to the rural economy in this region. We know the economic benefit they bring to our local economy here in Sligo with surrounding towns and vill ages benefiting hugely from each show,” says Tony McLoughlin TD.

“The Government considers this funding an important investment in rural communities and I am delighted that my colleague Minister Ring has granted this funding.

“The shows set to receive a grant of €7,000 each are: Ballyshannon, Ballinamore, Jamestown, Manorhamilton, Mohill, Beltra, Enniscrone, Grange, Riverstown and Strandhill.

“This funding allocation t akes into account the fact that smaller shows have par ticularly struggled in recent years. This funding will be a great boost to these event s and I commend the dedicated volunteers who work so hard on making the shows happen ever y year.”
