Avalon Centre ACADEMY PIPE BAND

The Avalon Centre is delighted to announce the start of the Avalon Academy Pipe Band in January 2018 for learning bagpipes and drums. Piping classes will take place on Monday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the time and date for Drumming classes has yet to be confirmed. Tuition is free and all instrument­s will be provided. PARENT/TODDLER GROUPS

The parent and toddler group meets on Monday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and on Wednesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to midday. Contact Paula at 071 9161836 for further details.

PHYSIO-LED PILATES

New physio-led pilates classes have started on Tuesday nights from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Contact the Avalon Centre at 071 9161836 for more details.

SELF-DEFENCE CLASSES

Krav Maga Self-defence classes are running on Wednesdays, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Contact 087 0659709 for more details.

BINGO

Bingo continues every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle on the night.

YOUTH CLUBS

Our Junior Youth Club meets on Monday and Wednesday from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Senior Youth Club meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

BOWLING

The Avalon Centre Bowling Club meets every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the centre. Just call in on the day.

Carraroe SCOIL NAOMH ÉANNA

A sale of work will take place in St Enda’s National School on next Friday, December 8, beginning after 10 a.m. Morning Mass. Many items including Christmas gifts, Books and food items will be for sale. Proceeds are in aid of the school. All are welcome to come along and support our school.

PROGRESSIV­E 25

The progressiv­e 25 card game is in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday at 9 p.m. Bring a partner but we can facilitate partners if necessary. New players always welcome. Pass the word to anyone that might like to have a game.

OPERATION TRANSFORMA­TION

Please note operation transforma­tion is coming to Carraroe as a whole community project commencing on January 8 18. Anyone interested can get a team organised and be ready for registrati­on planned for December 12.

ART COMPETITIO­N

Pupils in Carraroe are working on the art competitio­n to design a car sticker highlighti­ng Cigarette Littering and Dog Fouling. The project is supported by Sligo County Council Anti Litter Anti Graffiti Scheme.

CHURCH NEWS

Tax Claim Back: A form has been sent to all parishione­rs for signature and PPS number. All are requested to send back to parish office before December 12.

LAKEVIEW ICA

The next meeting of Lakeview ICA. will be held in Carraroe Community Centre tonight December 5 at 8 p.m., with our Christmas party being held following the meeting.

The Art Classes are now completed and the members work will be on display at the December meeting. The walking group will continue on Thursday mornings till December 14 – please note we will finish with a lunch in the Riverside Hotel at 12.30 on the day. The guild plan to celebrate little Christmas on January 6 – more details later.

DANCING

Dance lessons every Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Learn to jive, waltz, Quick Step and more. Beginners and Improvers welcome. Next Wednesday night Carmel McLoughlin will provide the live music. The other bands scheduled are as follows: December 13 John Molloy, December 20 Colm Burke (this is Party Night).

Please note the AEDs are located at Community Centre and Community Field Clubhouse. Code is posted beside the machine. Please be aware CCTV is in operation. We will be organising training in New Year If anyone wishes to be trained in CPR/AED please call 087 2222835 and we will place name on list.

Merville CHRISTMAS FAIR

The annual Mass for deceased and the sick of Our Community will take place this year on this Friday, December 15, at Merville Centre at 8 p.m. All are welcome to Attend.

Tickets are now available for our Christmas Draw supporting Community Facilities at Merville Community Centre.
