MICHAEL JAMES KIRRANE R.I.P.
The recent death occurred in his 80th year of Michael James Kirrane, late of Carrentubber, Tubbercurry. A native of Knockahoney, Tourlestrane, Michael James started his working life in Stensons shop/pub in Tourlestrane before moving to Tubbercurry to take up employment in Mastersons Shop on Wolfe Tone Square. He then moved to Basta in the mid/ late ‘50’s when Basta was still a young and fledgling enterprise. He continued to work there for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1998, and saw many highs and lows in the factory as employment numbers soared in the ‘60’s and 70’s before dropping again in the ‘80’s. It was in Basta he met his future wife, Bridie Scanlon, and after marrying in the early ‘60’s they settled in Carrentubber to rear their family.
Michael was an excellent farmer and took pride in producing and presenting his farm and stock in an excellent way. He was also a keen supporter of many sports Manchester Utd. Sligo GAA, and Tourlestrane being among his favourites, and he was a good judge of both players and teams abilities. He was also a keen 25 card player and played at all the local game venues.
His remains reposed at his home in Carrentubber prior to removal to St John Evangelist Church, Tubbercurry and burial took place in Rhue Cemetery.
Michael James is survived by his wife Bridie, daughters Mary, Nora, Michaela and Assumpta, son David, brothers John, Tom and Brendan, sister Josie, inlaws, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and many friends, all to whom sympathy is extended. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Tom Brennan, Sligo and originally from Powellsboro, who died recently. He is survived by his wife Philomena, sons Paul, Conor and Barry, sister Beana and cousins.
