Drunk driver was on his way to work

-

A 25 year old man has been convicted of drunk driving and banned from driving for three years.

Gary Casey of Dalton Terrace, Ballaghaderreen, tested 72mcgs of alcohol per 100mls of breath at Pearse Road on 22nd February this year.

After lengthy legal argument, Judge Kevin Kilrane convicted Casey.

The court heard he has several previous convictions for Road Traffic offences including having bald tyres and no tax or insurance.

Mr Declan O’Callaghan, defending, said Casey was a welder and the offence happened “the morning after” when he was on his way to work.

Judge Kilrane fined him ¤250 and banned him for three years.
