Championing local produce wins award for Osta café

-

OSTA Café and Wine Bar on Garavogue Weir has won an award for championing the best local produce Sligo has to offer.

Owner Brid Torrades and her team are the ‘Just Ask’ Restaurant of the Month for December.

“Aside from its delightful location, accessibly priced quality food and a genuine local flavour is what makes Osta stand out,” said Georgina Campbell. “Brid’s enthusiasm for seeking out and championing the best local produce remains undimmed. The real secret to Osta’s success lies in their supplier list and Brid’s ongoing search for new local producers to champion – which includes an open invitation on her warmly informative website.”

Thanking all of her suppliers for their support in delivering excellent quality produce, Brid said she was always delighted to find new producers to supply both the café and retail area. Her suppliers include Clarke’s Butchers, Ballysadare Eggs, Aidan Gillen and Le Fournil bakery on Tobergal Lane.

Currently in its eighth year, the ‘Just Ask’ campaign encourages diners to look for information on where food on their plate comes from and encourages chefs to profile their local suppliers on menus. Selected by renowned food writer Georgina Campbell in collaboration with Bord Bia, the Just Ask Restaurant of the Month rewards eateries across Ireland that exhibit best practice in showing transparency in the sourcing of the food on their menus.
