NPF is “terrible” for Sligo
COUNCILLOR Michael Clarke has said it was time for counties Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon, Cavan, Longford and Donegal to “come together as a union” to demand better progress for the North West.
He was speaking on the draft National Planning Framework at the December council meeting.
“I would have no faith in the plan. It gives no more distinction to Sligo than Grange. There’s nothing in this that advances Sligo as a growth centre for the North West,” he said, adding that it should be rejected by all counties in the region.
“We should come together and present how we think we can advance,” he said.
Cathaoirleach Cllr Seamus Kilgannon agreed and said they should also include Galway county but not Galway city.
Council Chief Executive Ciarán Hayes said the counties reflected their dissatisfaction with it also and were already putting together a plan for the region.
“I’m not happy with what’s presented to us. It’s terrible,”
