Cregg children urgently need therapists

-

BABIES, toddlers and children up to the age of 18 years at St Cecelia’s and Cregg will soon be without a Behavioural Therapist and Speech Therapist.

The current Behavioural Therapist is about to leave and is not due to be replaced, according to Cllr Marie Casserly who raised the issue at this month’s Council meeting.

She al so said the current Speech Therapist is retiring soon and has over 200 children on her books.

“One person cannot deal with so many children, especially when they have intellectual disabilities,” she said. “There is an urgent need for a second speech therapist for ages 0 to 18 years,” she added.

Council members agreed to write to the Minister for Health urgently seeking a Speech Therapist and Behavioural Therapist for the children at Cregg and St Cecelia’s.
