Guilty plea in ‘hijack’ case
A Dublin woman has pleaded guilty to her role in the hijacking of a car from a couple at a car park in Sligo.
Gillian Byrne (31) of 27 Cloonmore Park, Jobstown, Tallaght, Dublin 24 pleaded guilty at Sligo Circuit Court to the unlawful seizure of a car by use of force and intimidation at Dunnes Stores car park, Adelaide Street on May 8th last. Judge Keenan Johnson adjourned sentencing in the matter to February 13th next and ordered a probation report. She was remanded on bail. At the same court, Derek Nolan of 25 Cloonmore Park, Jobstown who is charged with the same offence was remanded in custody with consent to bail to the same date for arraignment. He also faces charges of dangerous driving and damaging the car.
