Air corps member admits assault

A member of the Air Corps has pleaded guilty to assaulting another man in a nightclub.

At the Circuit Court last Tuesday, Anthony Lynch of Carrowkeel, Carraroe admitted a charge of assault causing harm to Colin McGarrigle at 5 th on Teeling, Teeling Street on October 9 th 2016.

Mr Peter Daly BL with Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor (defending) said the accused was a member of the Air Corps .

He had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity having only recently been returned for trial from the District Court.

Mr Daly sought the preparation of a probation report and an adjournment for sentencing .

“He intends addressing the issue of compensation,” said Mr Daly.

Judge Keenan Johnson remanded Lynch on continuing bail to appear before the court on February 13th for sentencing.

A probation report along with a victim impact statement were also ordered.
