Fined for not having insurance

A woman who had a previous conviction for no insurance was fined and disqualified from driving by Judge Kevin Kilrane at Sligo District Court. Nora Ward, with an address at Glenview Park, Ash Lane, Sligo was charged with no insurance at JFK Parade on April 5 th last.

Defending solicitor Mr Gerard McGovern said that unfortunately his client did have a previous conviction for no insurance. “She thought she had insurance but she hadn’t.” The defendant told the judge she thought she was insured under an open policy and she hasn’t driven since. The judge fined her €100 and disqualified her from driving two years.
