Ballygawley in action
BALLYGAWLEY Celtic’s U13 boys put in a great display this morning against a very good Gurteen team at the IT Sligo.
Gurteen who are joint league leaders had the Ballygawley defence under early pressure but the Ballygawley lads held out to keep the score nil all at the break.
Fionn Healy in goals made a number of fine saves to keep Gurteen at bay but they finally scored when a goal was awarded after the ball bounced on the goal line after a goalmouth scramble.
More hard luck was to follow for Ballygawley when a penalty was given and Gurteen went 2 nil up but the lads never gave up and created a number of good chances. Then Shane O’Connor scored with a left foot shot from the edge of the 18 yard box.
This gave the Ballygawley lads great confidence and they were unlucky not to get a draw near the end with the Gurteen keeper making a number of fine saves. If the team can carry this performance into the next game they will get their reward.
