DESSIE HAYDEN R.I.P.

The death took place at University Hospital, Sligo, on December 9 of Dessie Hayden, St Jude’s, Shroofe, Monasterad­en. A well-liked and popular member of the community he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a lifelong member of the Pioneer Associatio­n and a stalwart of the Irish Farmers Associatio­n.

Officers and members of the IFA formed a Guard of Honour at his funeral. His remains reposed at Sharkey’s Funeral Home Ballaghade­rreen on Wednesday evening and were removed on Thursday morning to St Aiden’s Church Monasterad­en for the Funeral Mass celebrated by parish priest Fr Vincent Sherlock Kilmovee assisted by Fr Paul Kivlehan, Ballaghade­rreen. Burial took place afterwards in Kilcolman Cemetery Ballaghade­rreen.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, sons Adrian, Desmond and Ivan, daughters, Claire, Nichola, Justine, Ciara and Anne Marie, brother Ivan, sisters Gemma and Eucharia, grandchild­ren, sons – in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

RECENT DEATHS

Sincere sympathy is extended to relations and friends of Brigid Rogers née Flynn Clondra Co. Longford and formerly of Kilfree PO who died on December 6.May she rest in peace.

Sympathy is extended to Monica Rushe, Cloonloo, on the accidental death of her nephewin-law Patrick Moffatt, Drumboylan – sympathy also to his wife Martina, daughter, Cheryl, and to all his relations and friends. May he rest in Peace.

The death took place in Chortlon, Manchester of Tommy and Margaret Casserley on December 4 and five. Margaret is a sister of PJ McLoughlin. Sincere sympathy is extended to PJ his wife Elizabeth, Gurteen, and to all the relations and friends on their double bereavemen­t. May their souls rest in peace.

The death took place on De- cember 5 in New York of Richard Farrell husband of Eileen O’Beirne, Taverane, Cloonloo. Sympathy to all the relations and friends May his soul rest in Peace.

Welcomed in the Sacrament of baptism in St Patrick’s Church Gurteen on Saturday last was Robbie James Cryan son of Séamus and Tracey (Powell) Cryan, Cloonsilla – a brother to Ollie.

Bingo is on each Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. – jackpot is now €1,600 in 45 calls plus lotto raffle €300. Any profit shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee.

Cherish the ladies make a return visit to the Coleman Centre, Gurteen on Saturday night, January 6, in concert. This concert is already sold out but they are adding the following night Sunday the seventh at 8 p.m. to do a second one. SVP COLLECTION THANKS

The annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Collection was held on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, thank you to everyone who donated to the collection, your support as always is greatly appreciate­d.
