SVP COLLECTION THANKS

The annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Collection was held on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, thank you to everyone who donated to the collection, your support as always is greatly appreciate­d.

COLÁISTE MUIRE

On Wednesday, December 13, Coláiste Muire Ballymote was awarded the Cathaoirle­ach’s Award (School’s Category) for the work done and participat­ion in Darkness into Light 2017. The school are delighted with this success which has been accepted on behalf of the community of Ballymote. The school wish to congratula­te all students, staff, parents, the DIL committee, the local community and anyone who helped make Ballymote’s first DIL the great success that it was. The school wish to thank most sincerely, the Cathaoirle­ach for honouring the school. Coláiste Muire look forward to a bigger and better DIL event in 2018.

IRISH TIMES SURVEY – Coláiste Muire are delighted to have been listed Number one in Sligo and in the top 10 schools in Ireland in the recent Irish Times listings. These listings support Coláiste Muire’s motto of helping each and every individual achieve their personal best. The result reinforces the nurturing environmen­t that exists within the school with the aim of supporting the wellbeing of every child and supporting their personal achievemen­t at all levels.

These tables, in unison with outstandin­g Leaving Cert results in the summer of 2017 and excellent reports from the Department of Education paint a holistic picture of a school moving forward well. There is still much to do, however it is nice to take stock and say thank you to all staff, board of management, students, families and the wider community who have all been part of this journey over the last number of years.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the Ballymote lotto jackpot on December 9 Numbers drawn were 4, 6, 10 and 28. There were two match-three winners, names of winners are displayed locally. The jackpot now stands at €3,300.

The next draw will take place in Hayden’s on Saturday December 23. If jackpot is not won extra draw will take place with match three worth €100, 5 x €100 and 10 x €50. Thank you for your continued support.

WALKWAY OPENING

As Ballinalac­k Community Park was the first project in the country to receive Leader Funding of €124,386 for a walking track around the park. Minister Michael Ring will officially open the walkway on Thursday the 21st at 3.30 p.m.

NATIVITY PLAY

The children from Bunninadde­n NS will perform their Nativity Play in the Arc Decco, Ballymote this Thursday night at 7 p.m.
