PRIDE OF PLACE

Enniscrone has WON Runner-up in the 32 county Pride of Place Competitio­n 2017 out of over 100 communitie­s and local organisati­ons.

ENGAGEMENT

The engagement has taken place of Claire Byrne and Darren Ruane. Claire is daughter of Maureen and Jimmy Byrne of Main Street Enniscrone and Darren is son of Mary and the late Leo Ruane of Dooneen Enniscrone.

COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT

TIRERAGH CCÉ

Our annual concert will take place on Wednesday, December 27, in Dromore West Community Centre at 7 p.m. A great night of music, song and dance is guaranteed. Admission €10 for adults. Children Free.

BRIDGE CLUB

Bridge is played weekly in the Diamond Coast Hotel by the Enniscrone Social Bridge club. 44 played in the Turkey competitio­n and 46 attended the Christmas party. A very enjoyable night was had by all. The winners are as follows.1st, Roger Cawley and Felim clarke, second Jackie Kilcullen and Kevin mc Laughlin, third, Christine Kirby and Peter Murphy.4th Jack Kennedy and Gerry Boland, fifth Marion Flynn and Moya Brogan. Sixth John Wims and Eamonn Sweeney. Bridge will resume on January 10, at the usual time.

BLOTTO

There was no winner of the €13,400 jackpot. Numbers drawn were 9, 13 and 18. €25 winners were Anna Ryan, Darren Ruane, Brian Langan, Padraic Tighe, Katie Gilligan and Maurice Devaney. The jackpot for the next draw is on Saturday, December 16, in the Ocean Sands Hotel Enniscrone, and will be €13,600.

WALKING CLUB

The walk for this week Saturday, December 23, is the Glenree Loop Walk. This is an easy road walk of 10 kms.

ENNISCRONE-KILGLASS GAA

Abbott Cup – Our intermedia­te team will play in the long-delayed Abbott Cup final against Tourlestra­ne next Saturday, December 16, at 1 p.m. with a venue to be confirmed during the week. Best wishes to all of the players and management.

Married vs Singles – Our very popular Married vs Singles match will take place this year on Wednesday, December 27, at 2.30 p.m. in Quigabar. We are also hoping to involve our Gaelic for Mothers and Others in proceeding­s. It promises to be another fantastic day, all in aid of a designated charity once again. Management teams are set to be appointed in the coming week, and no doubt both teams will eagerly start their preparatio­ns ahead of the big encounter. Keep an eye on our social media platforms for further updates in the coming weeks.
