1 DECLAN O’ROURKE

Declan O’Rourke brings his new show, The Chronicles of The Great Irish Famine to the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Friday 22nd December, as part of a nationwide tour. Fifteen years in the making, this epic song cycle combines the best of traditiona­l Irish music and the heart of modern song-writing to present a series of extraordin­ary true tales from the most dynamic period in Irelands history.

2 STRANDHILL PEOPLE’S MARKET CHRISTMAS

Get along to the final Christmas market at the Strandhill People’s Market this Friday, December 22nd from 5-9pm. The evening markets are the perfect place to meet a friend after work, grab a bite to eat and catch up to the sounds of Christmas.

3 TRADITIONA­L MUSIC SESSION

The Harp Tavern plays host to a traditiona­l music session tomorrow (Wednesday) from 9.30pm until the late hours. Catch up with old friends or make new ones through the medium of music, and get into the Christmas spirit with this session.

4 KIERAN QUINN THEME NIGHT

Following the huge success of Kieran Quinn’s theme nights, the Hawk’s Well hosts two very special Elvis at Christmas theme nights on Wednesday December 20th and Thursday December 21st. An all-star cast of local musicians and singers, led by musical maestro Kieran Quinn will kick-start the holiday season with the King of rock n roll’s best-loved Christmas songs for what promises to be a spectacula­r yuletide performanc­e! This event is sold out.

5 MITCHELL SISTERS BENEFIT CONCERT

‘The Glory of Christmas’ songs and carols performed by Soprano Anne-Marie Keaney and her students with very special guests Michael Rooney, June McCormack, Sligo Cathedral Choir (Director Charles O’Connor) and Nicola Cleary. M.C. Damian Brennan. The event takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Sligo Park Hotel at 8pm. Tickets €10 available on the night. 100% proceeds going to the Mitchell Sisters Fund.

6 THE WORD AGAINST THE NOTE

A fantastic collaborat­ion between London based musician John Devine, Leitrim’s Seamus O’Rourke (Spoken Word) and Cavan singer/songwriter Fiona Maria Fitzpatric­k at the Glens Centre, Manorhamil­ton on Thursday, December 21st. Together they bring us a whimsical evening of music, song & story with just a hint of Christmas.

7 CONCERT FOR ST. TERESA’S NATIONAL SCHOOL

The concert originally scheduled for Sunday 10th December has now been reschedule­d for Friday 22 December in St. Teresa’s Church, Ballintogh­er, Co. Sligo.

All proceeds go to St. Teresa’s National School. Bring the spirit of Christmas to life. The Roscommon Solstice Choir will be performing at the concert.

8 LOUGH ARROW CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM

The annual Christmas Day Swim in aid of the NorthWest Hospice takes place at Lough Arrow on Christmas Day. Registrati­on at 12.30pm. There will be music, fun, prizes and hot drinks on the day. Everyone welcome to come along and support.

9 CHRISTMAS EVE AT HOLY HILL

Everyone is welcome to the Christmas Eve celebratio­n at the Holy Hill Hermitage, which will begin at 7:30 pm. Weather permitting, the group will start with a short walk outdoors, and then move indoors for Mass. Afterwards, there will be mulled wine and hot cider in the library.

10 CHRISTMAS JUMPER PARTY

Anderson’s Grill & Bar will be playing host to a Christmas Jumper Party on Saturday, December 23rd. There will be €200 in prizes to give away on the night.
