Spreadeagled on O’Connell St

-

A man has pleaded guilty to lying spread-eagled on a road and hallucinating on ecstasy.

Michael Langan (30) of Jinks Avenue, Sligo, was found spread-eagled on O’Connell Street by Gardaí at 4.50am on 14th May last.

The court heard Gardaí claimed he was hallucinating and Langan told them he was under the influence of ecstasy.

He had no previous convictions. Mr Gerard McGovern said his client was working full-time in a “responsible” job and would not come to the notice of the Garda again.

He said Langan also wished to travel for work in future.

“The Gardaí had no difficulty with him. It’s one of these things, he’s getting on in years,” said Mr McGovern to Judge Kevin Kilrane.

“A man with his responsibilities shouldn’t be dabbling in such things,” said the judge, agreeing to strike out the charge if Langan donated ¤200 to St Vincent de Paul in Sligo that day.
