Dad couldn’t afford his car insurance

-

A man who admitted he couldn’t afford to buy car insurance has escaped a driving ban.

Jerzy Rusiniak (42) of Meadowvale, Sligo, was charged with driving without insurance on Temple Street, Sligo on 28th May this year.

Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said Rusiniak was stopped at a Garda checkpoint and admitted he had no policy in place.

The court heard he had no previous convictions.

“At the time it was too expensive for me,” said Rusiniak to the judge.

Judge Kilrane convicted and fined the father-of-two ¤300 but did not disqualify him from driving.
