Thank you to all the businesses who help us with the blotto draw by selling tickets and allowing us to run the draws without which we wouldn’t be able to continue. Thank you to everyone who buys a blotto ticket, we really appreciate it as it helps us to buy flowers and shrubs for our Tidy Towns work. Thank you to Dromahair Foróige and their leaders for all the help with our Tidy Towns Projects.

Thank you to Joe in Centra and Ann in Ann’s Cutting Corner for selling our Keep Cups, to hopefully reduce the amount of disposable cups being used. By reusing these cups people are reducing Landfill. In case you didn’t know it disposable coffee cups are not recyclable. We have still some of these Keep Cups for sale in the office.

TABLE QUIZ THANKS

Highwood Community Centre committee would like to thank all who helped organise, participat­ed in and donated towards their recent table quiz. A new heating system has been installed in the hall which is available for meetings or events. Please contact any of the committee members or their Facebook page.

SVP COLLECTION

The annual St Vincent de Paul collection was taken up at both churches in the parish recently. The amount raised in Geevagh was €901.60 and in Highwood €230.90 bringing the total amount to €1132.50. Thanks to all who contribute­d so generously.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Wishing all readers and contributo­rs everything good for the New Year ahead. the monthly evening meeting in the Dartry Centre, Kinlough.

The group is most thankful to the many that supported its annual ‘Carers Week’ Manorhamil­ton fundraiser. Many thanks are expressed to Gilbert’s Pharmacy, Martin McGowan, E. S. B. meter reader as well as Michael McGoldrick, Mary Bradley, Linda Gilligan and Annie McGuinness who gave wonderful prizes for the raffle during the recent performanc­e of ‘Nobody’s Talking to Me’ in the Glens Centre.

The group is most grateful to outgoing chairperso­n, Olivia Mitchell for all her hard work and the many projects she has overseen during the past two years. The North Leitrim 24/7 Family Carer Support Group welcomes Michael McGoldrick Dromahair, as its new chairperso­n, while sincerely thanking Annie McGuinness Rossinver, for continuing to take on the role of secretary and Marie McGowan Manorhamil­ton, treasurer.

The Support Group welcomes Jean Campbell as its new Events Co-ordinator and also greatly appreciate­s all the work that Anthony Rooney has put into the Kinlough meetings over the past three years and continues to do so.

The group had its last meeting of the year on Thursday, December 14, and will get back together on Thursday, January 18. Christmas and New Year is a very difficult time for tired carers as a lot of regular services are on a Christmas break.

All members and friends are wished a Peaceful Christmas and New Year when it is hoped to see more people at the Group’s regular Thursday ‘cuppa and chat’ get-togethers.

ROSSINVER SWIM

Rossinver’s first ever Christmas Swim takes place on this Sunday, December 30, at 3 p.m. in Lough Melvin. The Christmas Swim is being promoted as a fundraiser to gather some essential money to provide amenities for the annual Irish Water Safety classes that will take place next July in Lough Melvin and in future years.

Hot drinks will be provided by the organisers of Rossinver’s Christmas Swim after the event is over on Sunday in the community centre to all participat­ing.

A presentati­on of last summer’s Irish Water Safety classes certificat­es to all who undertook them in Lough Melvin will also take place in Rossinver Community Centre.

All participat­ing in Sunday Christmas Swim in Lough Melvin are reminded not to forget to wear ‘your Santa hats.’ The entry fee for the Christmas Swim is €10 per person or €20 per family.

IFA TRACTORCAD­E

The annual Manorhamil­ton IFA tractorcad­e takes place on New Year’s Day, starting from Manor Mart at 2 p.m. on this Monday, January 1.

The chosen charity from which all funds raised during the tractorcad­e event will go is the North West Hospice. The North West Hospice is now running for 31 years and it requires a million euro annually in voluntary contributi­ons to operate its services.
