Hospitals submit plans to expand due to rising need

TWO of the main Sligo hospitals have plans for expansion.

Kingsbridg­e Hospital, formally Garden Hill, has applied for planning permission to erect a temporary endoscopy prefab in front of the main hospital building in order to “meet increasing demand.”

The future permanent endoscopy unit will be built on the site of two existing houses which are approved for demolition.

Future proposals at the site include an MRI suite and an additional theatre. Kingsbridg­e envisages a 7 year developmen­t period for these plans and is seeking permission for seven years. A decision is due by 21st February and the deadline for submission­s is 31st January 2018. Meanwhile Sligo University Hospital has put in for planning permission to build a 27sqm single story extension to their Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). Planners are due to decide by 24 th February and the deadline for submission­s is 3rd February 2018.
