CONDOLENCE­S

THE club extends its deepest sympathy to the Feeney family in Castletown following the passing of Roddy Feeney over the Christmas period. Roddy was well-known a popular figure with a deep connection to the Parish. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. GOT a news item?

ST PATRICK’S

St Pats Joker Jackpot now stands @ €700 as the Jackpot was won in the latest draw. Next draw takes place in The Beach Bar on January 13th @ 10.15pm. The club thank you for your continued support. Tickets available from all usual outlets. Winners in lastest draw were Corey Mc Loughlin, Gerry Boland, & Siobhan Terry.

St Pats will hold their annual Table Quiz in the coming weeks. Further details next week.

BALLYMOTE

BALLYMOTE GAA Club would like to wish all members, supporters and sponsors a very Happy New Year and we look forward to your continued support for 2018. AT our monthly meeting last week it was decided to hold a Dinner Dance on the 27th January in the Coach House Hotel to celebrate our very successful year in 2017. The Junior champions will be presented with County Medals. At this event we will honour our 1993 Intermedia­te winners as 2018 is the 25th year anniversar­y of Ballymote being crowned Intermedia­te winners for the first time in the history of our club. Players on that day were Damien Murtagh, Plunkett Cassidy, Fr Dan O’Mahony, Trevor Mattimoe, Joe McGuinness, Declan McGrath, Eamonn Donnellan, Pauric Creegan, Nigel Clancy, David Cannon, John Lavin, Michael Sweeney, Ronan O Connor, Keiran Dennedy, Adrain Sheerin. Subs Jim McGuinness and Sean Irwin.

OUR U 14 2017 ‘A’ league winners will be presented with their medals 21st January in Coach House Hotel at 6pm by Ireland GAA Internatio­nal Rules, Sligo and Coolera/ Strandhill player Niall Murphy. A Monster Auction fundraiser will be held on the 4th March in Loftus Hall. Contact Pat McGrath or any committee member to donate small furniture, toys, household items, vouchers, sports memorabili­a etc.

CODE of Ethics course will take place in Ballymote Community Centre 18th January at 7pm. CONGRATULA­TIONS to Treasurer Pamela Lavin and her husband Joe on the birth of their daughter.

COLLOONEY HANDBALL

HAPPY New Year to all our club members and supporters. OUR County board AGM takes place on Tuesday, the 9th at 8 pm in Collooney. The club will launch a new introducti­on to handball for the New Year, contact any club member for details. BINGO takes place this Thursday at 9pm, the jackpot is €5,650 in 42 numbers. DRUMCLIFFE hosted their Adult Golden Gloves in Oxfield on the 27 of December, the event was well supported by all clubs and enjoyed by all who took part. COOLERA/STRANDHILL

Lotto Results

The lotto entered 2018 at €4800, and has still not been won. Last week’s numbers were 1, 17, 19, and 30. Tickets as always are available from Bree’s Bar, Keane’s Supermarke­t and Margaret’s Café, as well as from Joe Gildea. The draw takes place every Monday evening in the clubhouse. The jackpot is now €4900.

Bord na nÓg Awards Evening Please note a date for your diary. The annual awards evening celebratin­g our underage teams takes place on Saturday. February 3rd. Further details will be available in the coming weeks. This is always a very enjoyable evening, and we hope that all underage teams will be represente­d. Sympathy

The club would like to express its sincere sympathy to our secretary Cathal Martyn and the Martyn Family on the death of his father Séamus. Seamus was a proud Coolera man, and spent all his life living under the shadow of Knocknarea. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Registrati­on

Team managers will not be responsibl­e for accepting membership fees this year. Members who have been paying by direct debit may continue to do so if they wish, or they can opt for on-line registrati­on.

Garda Vetting and Child Protection

As the new season approaches, coaches, managers and mentors of all under-age players are reminded that they are obliged to have attended training in Child Protection and to be Garda Vetted. Garda Vetting is available on-line. Coaches must also have coaching qualificat­ions.
