World No 1 golfer in Rosses Point
LEONA Maguire, number one amateur golfer in the World, was playing a round in Rosses Point on Friday with twin sister Lisa and brother Odhran.
Leona, 23, and Lisa are both based in the US, where they play golf with Duke University.
The Cavan natives are no stranger to Co Sligo Golf Club, as their brother Odhran is a member.
Leona represented her country at the Rio Olympics, where she finished the leading amateur and 21st overall.
David O’Donovan, manager of Co Sligo Golf Club, said it was great to have the Maguires visiting.
He told the Sligo Champion: “Leona is ranked number one in the world which is incredible.
“Both Leona and Lisa are based in the US where they play with Duke University.
“Here in Ireland, they play in Slieve Russell. Their brother, Odhran, is a member of our golf club here and he’s on our Senior Cup panel. They all just happened to be here today.
“Lisa too is a very good golfer, she’s highly well known too and has been on the Curtis Cup team as well,” David added.
