NEW FUNDING
Cadra is delighted to confirm a new allocation of €64,000 has been approved for our plan to develop a ‘Greenway’ from the church to Molly Fulton’s and eventually to Ballisodare.
There is also an allocation of €38,400 for the development of a ‘Blueway’ at Lough Gill which is also welcome as i t fits i nto the long term plans to have the area developed as a tourist attraction.
This is great news for the Carraroe area and is in addition to the allocation received last year. These proposals were part of Cadra submission for funding as part of our five-year development plan for the area. Our public representatives deserve appreciation for their efforts to ensure such funding is made available to the area.
SENIORS ALARM SCHEME
Cadra is approved by Pobal to administer this scheme and will arrange access to for all areas including estates and to Ballygawley, Ballintogher etc. The first application has already been installed. This scheme is free for the first year. It requires a contract to be signed between the provider (Care Direct) and the individual.

BUS SERVICE
Cadra has recently written to the Manager Bus Eireann requesting the return of the Sligo Town Service to Carraroe and the extension of the service to the church area. This will allow Carraroe residents avail of a park and Ride service to Sligo Town and facilitate students attending college. We await response from Bus Eireann and will keep you advised.
OPERATION TRANSFORMATION
Operation transformation has commenced in Carraroe with over 80 people participating. Great to see such a community interest and hopefully all will enjoy the experience and professional assistance provided. The programme participants have available Indoor Fitness/Pilates/ Yoga, boot camp and regular weight checks etc.
The Carraroe area now has teams of walkers with their Hi-Viz out each evening taking regular exercise led by local leaders. This initiative is a great credit to St John’s GAA Club with expert support of the professionals involved.

Welcome back to all our members after the Christmas break with our first meeting of 2018 taking place on Tuesday, January 9. We wish you all a happy and a healthy 2018.
The ladies of Lakeview Guild celebrated Nollaig na mBan with lunch at the Riverside Hotel on January 6 which proved very popular successful and enjoyable event. Thanks to the Chef, Trevor and all the dining room staff for the great service on the day. Also a special thanks to Maureen Davey for the excellent organisation of the event.

Welcome back after the Christmas break to all pupils and teachers. The ALAG project art competition prizes will be presented in January with the overall winning design becoming our 2018 campaign poster. Thanks to all the students that entered.

ST PATRICK’S DAY GRANTS
Any group in Carraroe interested in organising an alcohol free event on St Patrick’s Day for young people or adults should consider applying for funding from the North West Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force Small Grants Scheme. This is available for once-off funding to community and Not-for-profit Voluntary groups in Sligo. Maximum award per applicant will be €2,000.
