BILLY JOHNSON R.I.P.

The death occurred shortly before Christmas in Peterborough, England of Billy Johnson, late of Ballyglass, Curry. In his early 80’s, Billy was born and reared in Ballyglass but moved to England as a young man in search of employment. Throughout his life, he always kept in touch with family and was a regular visitor to Ballyglass while his parents were still alive.

His father Séamus was a well renowned greyhound trainer and owned many great Coursing dogs along with Paddy McCarrick of Tubbercurry, including Ballyglass Lundy, Ballyglass Rusty and Ballyglass Wit, to name just a few. Indeed, Billy also kept a life long interest in greyhounds and trained many winners around the dog racing tracks of Peterborough and London.

Billy was predeceased by his brother Brendan, who was also a great greyhound man and by his daughters Angela and Mary. In recent years, Billy suffered from ill health but bore it without complaint. Burial took place in Peterborough. He is survived by his wife Pauline, son Robert, daughter Claire, in-laws, grandchildren, sister, Sr. Mary, Marist Sisters, Betty Hill, London, brother Gabriel, Ballyglass, nephews,
