Suggested changes to booking of masses in Ballymote parish

-

At a recent meeting of the Ballymote Parish Forum the booking of masses was discussed and it was suggested that because of the number of requests for weekend masses in the parish, that the Mass for the People of the Parish (at present the 11.30am on Sundays) could be offered on a weekday morning opening up the possibility of taking bookings for the 11.30am mass on Sundays.

It was also suggested that more than one booking if requested could be taken for both the 11.30am mass in Ballymote and the 10am mass in Doo. This is due to the shortage of priests and to facilitate people who wish to book anniversary masses at the weekend.

Also it is hoped that Funeral Masses that fall on a Sunday would be included in the 11.30am mass so as to avoid the multiplication of masses.

“We will try to continue the practice of Celebrating Months Mind Masses and First Anniversaries on Saturday evenings at the 8pm mass,” the parish notes read.
