Fined and banned

FOR drunk driving and not having insurance at Templehous­e Demesne, Ballymote on April 9 th 2017, Tomas Plny of 26 Ard Cairns was fined a total of €400 and banned from driving for two years.

The court was told that a sample from the defendant showed a reading of 65mgs per 100mls of alcohol.

Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor (defending) said the defendant, a Czech national, had been working very hard here but he lost his job and his wallet and he foolishly took the car out.

He did co-operate and was very apologetic.

Also at Sligo District Court, Kenneth Foley of Monasterad­en, Gurteen was fined €200 and banned from driving for two years for drunk driving on December 14 th 2016 at Knockbrack, Keash. The breath sample showed a reading of 51mgs.

A plea was entered to the offence by Mr Gerard McGovern,
