Drumcliffe’s plans for ‘18
DRUMCLIFFE Handball Club has kicked off what promises to be a exciting 2018. Committee members travelled to Ballinlough, Co Roscommon where they received, on behalf of the club, the award for Connaught Handball Club of the Year 2017. Coaching has also returned on Saturday mornings from 9.30-12.30 for ages between 6 and 16years. Clive Slevin, PRO of the club said: “Last Saturday, many of our juveniles competed to secure a place to represent Rathcormac school in Cumann na mBunscoil handball competition which will be held in Collooney Handball Club on Friday, February 2nd at 6pm. Teams entering U11 girls and boys and U13 boys and U13 Girls. Thanks to all teachers and parents and coaches for their help,” he added.
Two Senior Men’s county finals were held in Oxfield on January 20th. Clive Slevin competed against Michael Bruen Collooney Handball Club with Clive narrowly being beaten. Also out was Sean Carroll Drumcliffe HC played Gerry Coleman Collooney being victor on this occasion. Clive said: “Drumcliffe Handball Club is continually developing, with a glass wall court within our sights at Oxfield. “Fundraising will continue through 2018. Club registration continues on Saturday mornings. “Anyone interested in joining is welcome to come and take a look any Saturday morning and have a chat with one of our coaches. Coaching times as follows Saturday mornings 9.3010.30 13-16yrs of age.10.30-11.30 9-12yrs of age and 11.30-12.30 6-8yrs of age.
