LEARN TO USE INTERNET
Sligo Leader Partnership Co. is currently delivering a free programme for people who would like to learn how to use the internet but have no previous skills or experience with computers. The free course is being delivered in community centres in Dromore West, Gurteen, Tubbercurry, Collooney, Geevagh, Enniscrone, Easkey, Grange, Ballintrillick and Sligo town. The course comprises of five two-hour classes. Computers and training manuals will be provided.
The aim of the programme is to increase people’s confidence in using the internet for a variety of everyday tasks, such as using Skype, sending emails, taxing your car, viewing missed TV programmes etc. Please ring David/ Paula at 071 9141138 for further details.

MIXED DISTANCE RELAY; MARATHON AND DUATHLON – County Competition is on the Sunday, February 18, at 11 a.m.
QUIZ UNDER-14 – County Competition is on Sunday the 18th in Strandhill National School at 4 p.m. Places still to fill on the team if anyone is interested. Thank you to Kathy Clarke for looking after this event.
GYMNASTICS – Local Area competition is on Monday, February 5, at 6 p.m. in Sligo Sports Centre. Thanks to Lisa Corrigan for managing this event. County Competition is on Monday, February 19, at 6 p.m. in Sligo Sports Centre.
BADMINTON – No entries to date
TABLE TENNIS – County Competition is on Wednesday, February 21, in Bunninadden Community Centre. Thank you to Stephen English for managing this event. We have still have places available on the teams (under-13 and under-16)
CHESS – County competition is on Thursday, February 22. Thanks to Tony Conway for his work with the Chess teams. Training starts on Wednesday next, February 24. at 8 p.m. in Teeling Centre.
BASKETBALL – County Competition is on Friday the 23rd and Saturday, February 24. Thanks to Anna Gethins and Shane O’Meara for their help with the basketball. Training for the boys has commenced and runs every Monday for 3.30 – 4.30 in the Teeling Centre.
DRAUGHTS – County Competition is on Sunday, March 4, in Dromore West starting at 11 a.m. Thanks to Gavin Phelan and Stephen Healy for working with our Draughts teams. Training starts on Wednesday next, February 24. at 7 p.m. in the Teeling Centre.
INDOOR SOCCER – County Competition is on Saturday and Sunday, March 10, and 11, in Summerhill College. Thanks to Paul Cunningham for managing our boys Indoor Soccer Team’s – this year there is both an under-10 and an under-13 competition.

DANCE MOVEMENT – County Competition is on Sunday, March 18, in Ballintogher; more details to follow.
CHOIR – County Competition is on Sunday, March 18, in Ballintogher. We are delighted that Aoife Anderson has volunteered to manage the Choir; if there are more children that would like to take part in the choir please let us know.
ART – The County Competition is on Sunday, March 24, in Ballymote. Locally some of our children will be doing their art work in the School, for others we have a session organised for Friday, February 2, in St John’s National School starting at 6 p.m. I will mail/text those who have selected art on their Entry Forms and need to come along.
MODEL MAKING – The County Competition is on Sunday, March 24, in Ballymote. Our Local competition is on Friday, February 2, in St John’s National School starting at 6 p.m. I will mail/text those who have selected Model Making on their Entry Forms and need to come along.
HANDBALL - The county competition is on Sunday, March 25, in Collooney. Thanks to John Walsh for taking charge of this event. After a few years of a break we plan to have teams back in handball this year.
PROJECTS – The County Competition is on Sunday, March 25, in Collooney. Again this is an event where we have lots of success – its good to see the interest this year and we will again have an entry at under-11. There is also a competition at under-13 and under-16.
SWIMMING – The County Swimming is on Monday and Tuesday, March 26 and 27, in Sligo Sports Centre. Our Local competition is on Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. Thanks to Shiela Ryan for running our Swimming events.
ATHLETICS (TRACK AND FIELD) – County – June 23 and 24 – Sligo IT Local Area – Sunday, May 20, Medal Presentation night – Monday, May 21, in the Teeling Centre.
TABLE QUIZ
The parents’ association of Scoil Mhuire agus Iosaf are holding a table quiz to fundraise for the school. The table quiz will be held on Saturday, January 27, in Connolly’s Bar, Collooney at 9.30 p.m. Tables of four cost €40 per table. There will be a raffle on the night with loads of prizes donated by local businesses. All are welcome, hope to see you there.
