5KM ROAD RACE

The ninth annual Cloonacool GAA 5km road race on your marks, get set, go: The ninth Cloonacool 5km road race will take place on February 4 at midday. This is a key fundraiser for Cloonacool GAA Club. This is a Fast Flat course and AAI Permitted. Starting at the Community Pitch, Cloonacool. Runners, Joggers, Walkers all welcome. Entry on the day from 10.30 at pitch. Race starts at 12. Entry fees €10 for adults, €5 for children and €25 for a family. Changing and shower facilities available. Refreshmen­ts afterwards. Prizes include: First three men, first three women, first local man, first local woman, first Secondary and first National School runner.

COMMUNITY PARK DRAW

The Community Park lotto draw for January took place in Brennan’s on Saturday night. There was no winner of the €1,400 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 9 and 10, there were six match-three winners. They were Martin and Patrica Gavigan, Pádraig and Diarmuid Cully, Brendan Wynne, Michael and Margaret Lawrence, Maura Henry and Paddy O’Hara. Next month’s jackpot is €1,500, tickets can still be purchased from any committee member. Many thanks for your continued support.

CUPID WORE SKIRTS

Rehearsals are in full swing at present for this year’s production of ‘Cupid Wore Skirts’ by the Cloonacool Players. This is a hilarious three-act comedy written by that great northern playwright Sam Cree. It will be performed in Cloonacool Community Centre on February 9, 10 and 11, followed by dates in the Hawks Well Theatre Sligo, Ballina Arts Centre, St Brigid’s Hall Tubbercurr­y and Ballintogh­er Community Centre.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his brother Séamus, Derryknock­eran, to his sister Breda in Manchester, extended family, relatives and many friends. May he rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Gertrude Crummy, John and family Cloonloo on the death of her aunt Margaret (Rita) Mullany, Glasnevin, Dublin and late of Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Her remains reposed at Mahon’s Funeral Home, Boyle on Monday afternoon and were removed to St Joseph’s Church, Boyle for the Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in Assylinn Cemetery, Boyle. May she rest in Peace.

CORRAN COLLEGE

Corran College, Ballymote, open evening and enrolment will be on Thursday night, January 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Parents and pupils from fifth and sixth class are invited to attend. To be able to enrol you must have a birth certificat­e and a PPS number with you.

SOCIAL DANCING

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €2,100 on 46 calls and lotto raffle is €6oo-all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.
