Programme announced for 75th Western Drama Fest
The programme for the 2018 Western Drama Festival has been announced.
Nine drama groups will be taking part in the event.
Celebrating 75 years of the event, this year’s Western Drama Festival is sure to be huge.
Taking place from March 2nd-10 th, nine drama groups are taking part, including Tubbercurry’s own Phoenix Players.
The programme is as follows:
Friday 2nd March: Lifford Players, Co. Donegal with “Dancing at Lughnasa” by Brian Friel
Saturday 3rd March: Brideview Drama, Co. Waterford with “Stolen Child” by Bairbre Ní Chaoimh & Yvonne Quinn
Sunday 4 th March: Letterkenny Music & Dramatic Society, Co. Donegal with “Beneath an Irish Sky” by Kieran Kelly
Monday 5 th March: Clann Machua, Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo, with “The Cripple of Inishmaan” by Martin McDonagh
Tuesday 6 th March: Phoenix Players, Co. Sligo with “Burried Child” by Sam Shep- hard
Wednesday 7 th March: Schull Drama Group, Co. Cork, “No Man’s Land” by Harold Pinter
Thursday 8th March: Butt Drama Circle, Co. Donegal, with “Three Days of Rain” by Richard Greenberg
Friday 9 th March: Wexford Drama Group, Co. Wexford with “Proof ” by David Auburn
Saturday 10 th March: Bradán Players, Co. Kildare with “Conservatory” by Michael West.
Michael O’Hara will be adjudicator for the event.
Michael has been adjudicating in the drama circuit for at least 25 years all over Ireland and Scotland.
Among the major festivals he has adjudicated have been the Ulster One Act Finals, the All-Ireland Confined Finals, the RTE All Ireland Drama Festival Finals, the All Ireland One Act Finals and the Scottish One Act Finals.
This will be Michael’s second visit to the Western Drama Festival, Tubbercurry having previously adjudicated the three-act festival.
