KIERAN QUINN’S TEENAGE THEME NIGHT

The Yeats Winter School runs from January 26th to 29th and is hosted by Sligo Park Hotel and The Yeats Society. Director is P.J. Matthews. Guest writer is Nuala NiDhomhnai­ll. Further details at sligo@leehotels.com. The aim of the weekend is to provide a basis for reading, exploring and thinking about Yeats’s poetry and his brother’s work.

The ever-popular Kieran Quinn’s Teenage Theme Night returns with a selection of songs about weather and the solar system. So join The Model for two brilliant nights with the rising young stars of the Sligo music scene this Friday (January 26) and Saturday (January 27). These are Go See events run in associatio­n with Music Generation Sligo, offering half price tickets to people under 18.

TWO DAY WORKSHOP WITH MICHAEL KEEGAN-DOLAN

Director and choreograp­her Michael Keegan-Dolan will hold a two day workshop at The Factory Performanc­e Space, Sligo on January 27th and 28th. Michael Keegan-Dolan will share some of the processes of work which he has developed with dancers, singers, actors and musicians over the last twenty years, identifyin­g practices that may be useful for future creative endeavours.

THE FROG PRINCE

Join Sullivan’s Bar on the Mall this Friday night (January 26th) for ‘Turn it On’. Hear songs from all around the world, mainly on vinyl, such as Hailu Mergia, King Krule, Real Estate and more. Kicking off from 9.30 and going until the late hours.

Sligo General Hospital Musical Society’s panto ‘The Frog Prince’ takes place at The Hawk’s Well Theatre from January 24th until January 27th. It promises a night of toe-tapping, hand-clapping, side-splitting fun! Prince Norman is about to be crowned king, since his father is stepping aside due to old age. But the king’s evil sister, Norman’s Aunt Phibian, has a plan to steal the throne for herself, leaving her nephew transforme­d into a frog!

SLIGO YOUTH VOICES - AUDITION WORKSHOPS

Hawk’s Well Theatre and Music Generation Sligo have announced the details of a new youth choir. Membership of the choir is open to all primary school students age 9-12.
