Man ran from derelict building
A 21-year-old man who ran from a derelict building when Gardaí arrived was fined €300 at Sligo District Court.
Bernard McDonagh (21), from Kilkenny but now said to be living in Sligo admitted a charge of trespass at the Gate Lodge, Doorly Park on November 12 th last.
Inspector Donal Sweeney said Gardaí received a report of suspicious activity at the building at midnight and when they arrived on the scene, two men took off running.
Both of them were subsequently caught. The defendant has a number of previous road traffic convictions.
Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor (defending) leaded that the building was derelict and that the defendant co-operated with Garda. He had moved to Sligo with his sister.
Imposing a €300 fine Judge Kevin Kilrane remarked: “I wouldnt like to think this kind of thing will happen again.”
