Motorists fined, banned
JOHN McDonagh, Alma Terrace was given a three month suspended jail term for driving without insurance on May 14 th at Garavogue Villas.
He was also banned from driving for two years. He was further fined €50 for not having a licence and €50 for not wearing a safety belt on the occasion.
He claimed he had only moved his vehicle a short distance.
The court was told the defendant has 15 previous convictions.
At the same court, Kieran O’Donnell of 160 Strandhill Road was fined €80 for not having an NCT on his car at Cloghogue, Castlebaldwin on December 20 th 2016.
Dawid Kantoch, Rathbraughan Park was fined €200 and banned from driving for a year for not having insurance at Duck Street on March 14 th. He did not have any previous convictions.
Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor (defending) pleaded that the defendant had taken a car for a test drive.
Neil Scanlon, 38 Cranmore Drive was fined €200 and banned for one year for not having insurance at Lake Isle Road on June 23rd 2017. He was also fined €50 for not having a licence.
Mr MacSharry pleaded that the defendant took out the car which had been off the road in order to collect an ill friend.
