Flamboyant fun at the hospital panto
HOSPITAL MUSICAL IS 21 YEARS ENTERTAINING AUDIENCES AND DONATING THOUSANDS TO LOCAL CHARITIES.
FOR 21 years the popular Sligo Hospital Panto has been getting rid of those January blues.
Since it first began more than €150,000 has been raised by the Musical Society for local charities and that figure is set to rise after the recent Panto in the Hawk’s Well theatre.
Hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, admin staff
and pharmacists to name but a few were all involved in this year’s Panto, The Frog Prince.
Deirdre Staunton was the director along with Niamh Manly. Ailbhe Hayes, a Pharmacist in the hospital, said everyone really enjoyed the show.
“It was a show for all the family, from grannies to grandkids. We raised €12,000 last year and year it has been growing with ticket sales and a raffle. We’re very proud to keep it as local as possible, so that the money goes to charities in Sligo, Leitrim and south Donegal,” Ailbhe added.
Now with another successful Panto done and dusted, the actors will be swapping their costumes for their scrubs.
