Council is to review traffic at Rathcormac

-

THE Council has agreed to review the recent changes to the road layout and traffic management at Rathcormac National School.

It’s after Councillor Sinead Maguire requested that the engineering department review the recent changes to the road layout and traffic management at the school.

Cllr Maguire said at the initial left turn coming down from the church a piece of kerbing was sticking out too far and residents were also concerned about proposals to increase the speed limit through the village from 50kph to 60kph.

Mayor of Sligo Municipal District Councillor Hubert Keaney said there were still people having difficulty with the new junction design.

He said while it “most certainly has reduced speed of motorists turning into the school”, people were still complaining and parking on the double yellow lines.

Cathaoirleach Cllr Seamus Kilgannon asked for assurances the speed limit through the village would not be raised.

“These representations to TII are being listened to,” said Director of Services Tom Kilfeather.
