Litter fines

The new Litter Warden in Sligo has been busy - he’s issued 36 lit ter fines between starting the new job l ast June and the end of the year.

Cllr Marie Casserly, who had asked for a report on his work, was told that so far this year he has issued four more litter fines.

He’s also heavily involved in clean-up projects, monitoring dumping sites and setting up secret CCTV to film people ill egally dumping.

“I have noticed a marked improvement in spots where I used to get photos from l ocals showing the dumping,” said Cllr Casserly.
