More respect for innocent unborn
Madam Editor,
I wish to respond to the two letters printed in the Sligo Champion dated 23/01/18 from two Mayo people.
One letter ends I quote “we all know that an informed mind is a pro-choice mind’’. I say an informed mind and conscience would never want to kill another human being either inside or outside the womb. The only difference is the location of the baby.
The other letter states I quote: “We are middle Ireland and we will repeal the 8th Amendment in order to ensure that everyone can receive progressive reproductive care in their Ireland.’’ I say to Richard Carroll, be honest, what he means is abortion or destruction of human life in the womb. The true definition of reproductive care is the care taken in the reproduction of a human life not in it’s destruction. Termination means extermination.
Society should look carefully at the causes of the demand for the Repeal of the 8th Amendment which are as follows... 1. The total lack of understanding and respect for the 5 th Commandment “Thou shalt not kill’’.
2. A major breakdown in Christian moral standards eg. fornication and adultery is widespread.
3. Lack of responsibility especially by uncaring, cowardly fathers and family members.
4. The desecration and perversion and lack of respect for motherhood driven by an economic agenda forcing mothers to work when many would prefer to be home-makers. 5. Poverty and lack of housing and lack of psychological and caring support by many medical people and politicians for women in crisis pregnancies.
Society should look at ways of changing attitudes towards more respect for the most innocent of human beings in the comfort of their mothers’ wombs.
Sincerely, Thomas Banks
