The Sligo Champion

Connacht title for Summerhill

SUMMERHILL COLLEGE 0-14 ST JARLATH’S 2-2

CONNACHT COLLEGES JUVENILE A LEAGUE FINAL imum at the break, 2-01 to 0-06. The second half was a different affair, and the Summerhill boys came out with intent from the start, as Dara Foy burst out of his own defence and scored a great point. That lifted the whole tempo of the game and from there on Summerhill took over. Points were added by Conor White, Luke Casserly, Fionn O’Hehir and Cian Oates from play and frees from Jack McGovern. Truth be told, the Sligo boys should have probably won by a lot more in the end. Overall the defence was solid with Clifford and Keaney dominating their opposite numbers. Ciaran O’Reilly had an excellent game in full back, half backs Clinton and Byrne with Foy in the middle never putting a foot wrong. The midfield pairing of Kelly and Casserly took over in the second half and the half forward line of O’Boyle, Niland and Oates all put in a good performance. The full forward line of McGovern, Smith and White always looked a threat. Dara Foy accepted the trophy as captain of the Summerhill team. After this performance, the Summerhill juvenile team, coached by Liam Óg Gormley, Sean Gormley and Barry Convey can look forward to the championship with great confidence.
