SLIGO Traveller Support Group and a team of Syrian Refugees based at the EROC centre in Ballaghade­rreen played a competitiv­e game of football in the Sean Fallon Centre.

The event on Tuesday was organised by the Sligo Traveller Support Group (STSG) as an act of solidarity and support for the refugee community.

In an open game it was STSG who more clinical in their build up play and finishing running out eventual winners by eight goals to three.

At full time a trophy was presented to the players from Ballaghade­rreen as a memento of the game.

Jamie Murphy of STSG said: “We are delighted with how the day went. It was a very good game by both sides and it was a privilege for us all to meet the players and volunteers from the EROC centre.

“It was a good example of sport bringing communitie­s together.

“We would also like to thank Sligo Rovers for the use of the excellent facilities and refreshmen­t
