GREENWAY

The Greenway from church to Ballisodar­e has commenced. Mullane Contractor­s are on site and in time we hope to see it go all the way to link up with the Ballisodar­e to Collooney greenway. This amenity will be of assistance to all residents and will we hope encourage young and seniors to become more active and enjoy the facility. Let’s get organised and start a Carraroe walking group to follow on from the excellent operation transforma­tion project led by St John’s GAA Club.

25 CARD GAME

The regular game takes place each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Bring a partner but if necessary we can match you up. Winners were Nigel Durcan/ Johnny McLean on 11 Games. Runners-up were John Lee/ Pádraig McLoughlin, Joe Scanlon/Joe Moran on 10 Games.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The applicatio­n forms are being distribute­d via St Enda’s National School for the Carraroe area. Forms must be returned by Wednesday, January 31, to your school contact or to 20 Highfield Road Sligo €5 per child €10 max per family parent and child must sign form.

Parents are advised to check for Cornageeha Community Games applicatio­n forms. We appeal to parents to use the dedicated walled off parking area at school to drop and collect chil- dren and not park on double yellow lines as it blocks the second exit from the car park.

ASSESSMENT OF NEEDS

The central question which we need examined and residents wishes establishe­d is: What services, supports and facilities including health, housing, social, transport, and security etc is required in our area to allow people live into old age in our community without the need of a Nursing Home?

Cadra is anxious to have a steering group, as representa­tive as possible of the population, to guide the process which will involve Surveys, Focus Groups etc This process will allow us have a profession­al report prepared on the future needs and wishes of residents of Carraroe and surroundin­g areas. The report will guide future developmen­ts and will provide a basis for discussion with all statutory agencies responsibl­e for the planning, developmen­t and provision of services in the area.

SACRISTANS RETIREMENT

Our Sacristans Evelyn and Martin Scanlon are retiring after many years of faithful service to our Parish Community. A Mass of thanksgivi­ng for service in the parish followed by refreshmen­ts in the community centre will take place on February 16 beginning at 7 p.m. Please return your envelope indicating your intention re attending to assist with catering arrangemen­ts.
